eSIM customer onboarding

Design a mobile onboarding journey that connects the customer account, an accepted order and provisioning status.

The workflow to solve

A new customer chooses an eSIM offer and expects a clear route to using the service. The software journey must carry the account and subscription context from purchase through the provisioning interaction. A confirmation from the storefront alone does not establish that activation has finished.

A practical software boundary

Telco CRM can provide the customer context, while the Central Product and Customer Repository supplies the relevant shared records. The Order Orchestration Platform is the product boundary for discussing how the fulfilment steps are coordinated with the selected provisioning partner.

What the design should demonstrate

Define the customer-visible states and the evidence required for each transition. The result should be an order history that helps both the customer and the support team identify the next step.

  • Agree eligibility and account ownership before provisioning.
  • Associate partner references with the correct order.
  • Provide a recovery path for expired or incomplete setup.
  • Verify the final status against the agreed activation evidence.

Questions behind the implementation

What should mark an eSIM order as complete?

Agree which provisioning and service conditions must be confirmed. A purchase confirmation or a profile reference alone should not be used as evidence for a later activation state.
